I had just logged into my tribe.net account to notice that there was a long list all of the tribes I had subscribed to 3 days ago. Looking down the long list I found many were numbered with new topics for me to look at. Very interesting things said in a great many of places but then... there, at the bottom of the list, with a 0 next to it, as if nothing more need be said, was this-here group, zen meditation.

Sorry to brake that peace with this empty statement. ;)

I know this confusion
as if it were my own,
this searching
from town to town
and time to time,
as if no place
were my own.

And I am often found
when I am most lost.

Remember when I wandered
through cloudless desert
like motherless child
looking for the mirage
that mirrored my dreams
when no thirst could quench
the never-ending drought.

You found me then
and took me in
with heart and soul
when it was everything I needed.

So, when you need me most,
just close your eyes
and go to that special place
that just we two know about...
for I am there.

Always there.

And for you,
it will be
as if I had never left.

biting an iron bull

What is called the Zen problem, or koan, is likened to a person who has swallowed a ball of red-hot iron. He cannot gulp it down and he cannot spit it out. Or it is like a mosquito biting an iron bull. It is the nature of a mosquito to bite and it is the nature of an iron bull to be unbiteable. Both go on doing what is their nature, and so, nothing can happen. Soon you realize you are absolutely up against it. There is absolutely no answer to this problem, and no way out. Now, what does that mean? If I cannot do the right thing by doing, and I cannot do the right thing by not doing, what does it mean? It means, of course, that I who essayed to do all this is a hallucination. There is no independent self to be produced. There is no way of showing it because it is not there. When you recover from the illusion and you suddenly wake up, you think, "Whew, what a relief." That is called satori.

It's not the same anymore but its not different. We have to make the steps to bring meditation into the modern society. Somewhere between new and old we combine our constantly random TV induced brains to slow, to center, to find. Between the multi-cultural, multi-religious, and multi-political try to find ourselves, bring the light and the middle road into the relm of extremist. The road is there, the mission is possible, and is there a cause?

A trance always take hold of me when I see water. It can be solid, gas, and a liquid. It is a teacher to my mind. It can explain systems of sound, waves, and patterns. A deep form of my meditation is sitting by water. A pool, lake, or modern sculpture (involving water). Be like the water. Open the mind to the water. See what it does. Notice it's movement. It might teach you something
